Millions of Dollars Recovered for Our Clients
Dabigatran, known by the commercial product name Pradaxa, is an anticoagulant drug used to prevent blood clots that cause strokes. The drug was created by a pharmaceutical company named Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. Pradaxa, and was officially approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2010.
Unfortunately, Pradaxa has been known to cause severe bleeding and other side effects, including:
- Cerebral hemorrhaging
- Gastrointestinal bleeding
- Coughing up blood
- Urine that is pink or brown
- Blood-like vomiting
- Recurring nosebleeds
Because there is no antidote to stop the bleeding caused by Pradaxa, the
side effects can be extremely dangerous and sometimes fatal. Warfarin,
another blood thinning medication, also causes bleeding, but in this case, the bleeding can be stopped by administering Vitamin K. Pradaxa does not have a reversal mechanism.
