Dabigatran, known by the commercial product name Pradaxa, is an anticoagulant drug used to prevent blood clots that cause strokes. The drug was created by a pharmaceutical company named Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc. Pradaxa, and was officially approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2010.
