The Hunter Power Plant is comprised of 3 units which were constructed in the 1970s and 1980s and is still in operation today.  Operated by Pacificorp’s Utah operations, Rocky Mountain Power, the Hunter Plant occupies a 1,000-acre site and has a generating capacity of 1,320 MW.

The 3-unit Hunter Power Plant began operating in the late 1970s and continues today.  Powered by the burning of coal from the Deer Creek, Sulfco, Westridge and Dug Out Mines, the Hunter Plant burns approximately 4.5 million tons of coal per year.  The energy generated by the plant is owned in part by Pacificorp (Rocky Mountain Power), Deseret Generation & Transmission Cooperative, Utah Municipal Associated Municipal Power Systems and Provo City.
