In the 1950s, Dow Chemical purchased plantations in Iberville parish which became part of Dow Chemical’s Louisiana Operations.  Currently covering 3,300 acres and employing over 1,300 workers, the facility produces over 50 different chemicals used in the production of a wide variety of consumer goods.

In 1956, Dow Chemical began operating in Louisiana at locations near Plaquemine and Grand Bayou.  Employing more than 1,300 workers at the Plaquemine plant as of 2015, Dow Chemical continues to invest in and expand operations at the site.  Dow Chemical’s Louisiana Operations produces more than 50 different chemicals that are used to manufacture a variety of products, including but not limited to, adhesives, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
