SKF was founded in Sweden in 1907 which opened a plant in Altoona, PA, in 1952.  A leading manufacturer of ball bearings, SKF employed nearly 300 workers at the Altoona plant which had been established in an abandoned shirt factory.  In 2013, SKF closed the Altoona Plant in a company-wide effort to consolidate their manufacturing facilities.
