Renamed as the Wasatch Integrated Waste Management District, the former Wasatch Energy Systems’ burn plant was opened in 1987 and helped heat part of the military complex located at Hills Air Force Base. During its operation, the facility was capable of burning as much as 125,000 tons of trash from Davis County per year. Due to decreased demand, the facility will be closed in 2017.
