The Woods Cross Refinery, which was eventually purchased by Silver Eagle Refining in 2000, was built in 1954 by Sure-Seal Corporation.  Originally started as a wax refinery, the facility has been owned by several companies throughout its operation.  Currently, the refinery primarily processes yellow wax crude.

One of two refineries located in Woods Cross, Utah, the Silver Eagle Woods Cross Refinery began as a wax refinery to refine wax from crude oil.  Over the years of its operation, the facility has been owned by several companies.  The previous owners of the facility include Sure-Seal Corporation (1954-1955), W. M. Barnes Company (1955-late 1950s), Petroflex Corporation (late 1950s-1961), Frontier Oil Refining (1961-1982), Crysen Refining (1982-1997), Inland Refining (1997-2000).  The current owner, Silver Eagle Refinery, purchased the facility in 2000.  In 2009, a major explosion occurred at the refinery resulting in the serious injury of four workers and the damage of nearby homes.
