The 3-unit, coal-fired Homer City Powerhouse (HCP) was built between the 1960s and 1970s.  Employing over 240 workers at a time, the HCP generates enough electricity to power 2 million homes.  Due to a variety of economic factors, the HCP filed bankruptcy in 2017.
