The United States Gypsum Company (USG) has manufactured construction materials, including drywall and joint compound, since it was founded in 1901. In 1956, USG began operating their lime and gypsum plant in New Orleans. Throughout its years of operation, the USG plant in New Orleans has employed hundreds of workers and is still in operation today.

Founded in 1901, USG has been in operation over 100 years and is considered to be the largest distributor of wallboard in the United States. In 1956, USG purchased and began operating their plant in New Orleans. Over the decades the plant has been open, it has employed hundreds of workers. Still in operation, the plant currently manufactures construction products such as cement board.
