Located on the historic San Francisco Plantation property in Garyville, LA, Marathon Petroleum’s Garyville Refinery is the third largest refinery in the United States.  Built in 1973 by ECOL, Ltd, and purchased by Marathon Petroleum in 1976, the Garyville Refinery produces gasoline, distillates, fuel-grade coke, asphalt, polymer-grade propylene, propane, slurry, sulfur and dry gas.  

Marathon Petroleum continues to invest in the Garyville Refinery as is evident by their funding a $3.9 billion refinery expansion which was completed in 2009.  The Garyville Refinery currently employs around 950 workers.
