Constructed by DuPont in 1968, the Burnside plant in Darrow, LA, produces sulfuric acid which is used in products such as gasoline, detergents, shampoo, paints and plastics.  The Burnside plant also regenerates spent acid from refineries and chemical companies.  In 2015, the plant was purchased and operated by the Chemours Company.  In 2016, the Chemours Sulfuric Products Division, which included the Burnside plant, was purchased by Veolia North America.  Still in operation, the facility employs around 30 workers.
