Opened in the late 1960s, the Metro Jail was built to replace the former jail located next to the County Courthouse at 2nd East and 4th South.

Detail

The Metro Jail was built in the late 1960s and operated until 1999.  In 2000, the building, which could house 311 inmates, was demolished and replaced by the Adult Detention Center located at 3415 South 900 West.
